MOVIE NIGHT

February 4

Join us for a night movie! The Kroc Center will host a showing of Academy Award nominated film, Hidden Figures! Hidden Figures tells the true story of local legend Katherine Johnson and her contributions to the United States first successful manned spaceflights.

The showing is FREE and open to the community of Hampton Roads and will begin promptly at 6pm.

Light refreshments will be served.

INSPIRATIONAL LECTURE

February 5

Bianca Michelle Wilson joins The Kroc Center’s Black History Month lecture series and will share her inspirational story of how she became Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s first African American female train conductor.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH BOOK CLUB

Join us every Wednesday in February from 5-6pm as we discuss the novel Hidden Figures.

GIANT FOOTPRINT IN THE SANDS OF TIME

Join Naval Lt. Commander Michael Bullock for A visual documentation of African History, from the Pyramids to President Obama.

PARENT’S NIGHT OUT

February 15

Parents! Looking to enjoy a night out on the town, but don’t have a sitter for the kids? No worries, The Kroc Center has you covered! On Friday, February 15th The Kroc Center’s Arts & Education Department is offering Parent’s Night Out from 5PM-9pm. Kids will enjoy free play, crafts, games and more! A light snack will be served, but children should eat dinner prior to arriving.

PRESIDENT’S DAY CAMP

February 18

Not sure where to take the kids during their days off from school? The Kroc Center offers full Day Camps any time school is out! All Day Camps provide children the opportunity to engage in fun-filled activities in a safe and positive environment. This price includes all activities, two snacks, and a hot lunch.

Camp is $20 for members and $25 non-members.

The Atupman Act Dance Theater presents Kufis, Crowns, & Kangols: Trace Hip-Hop culture from its West African roots to slavery, blues & jazz.

Join Dr. Melinda Boone, Superintendent of Norfolk Public Schools, for closing reflections to our Black History Month celebration.

KIDS CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Kids are invited to come out on February 27th from 5:30pm-7:30pm to learn about Black History through food, art, books, and fun activities!
